Same thing here in Sacramento, craigslist ad and too good to be true. Been in Marketing for some time and after researching this and getting an interview right off the bat, I'm skeptical. I'll take my chances with a legit company anyday. Beware this really appears to be a scam, possibly proscout!!!! who is known to have bad results and out to grab your money!! btw, they apparently use several bogus names, asked the girl who called about any DBA'S that's "doing business as" and she says "oh yeah, we have that" HELLO!! BEWARE
Someone stopped me in the WalMart parking lot and said that my daughter was really cute (I agree, of course) and did I want to get her into acting. Naturally I was very suspicious, but I took her flier about showing up to a "Be Discovered" screening the next day. I just don't trust processes like this so I never went, but this is the phone number printed at the bottom of the flier (in a completely different font than the rest of the flier, like it was added later when they switched from one phone number to another):
415-487-6433
Apparently, the name of the organization is "be discovered" or possibly "The United Group" (which shows up on a web search as many other companies but not child acting). Also very suspicious: there is no website URL anywhere on the flier. No legitimate firm working with anyone in Hollywood would function without a functional website.
I was looking for jobs on craigslist and i saw this great job listing that said it had to do with entertainment/ PR division in my area that pays $30 an hour. of course im so excited and call this number right away. There is a recorded message that asks me to leave my name and phone number so i did and recieved a call 2 days later. the strange thing i noticed now was that my phone only rang once and the number was witheld. The lady left a message saying that i had an interview at 12 o clock 2 days later and gave me an address, etc. Looking at the whole situation it really seems too good to be true so i looked it up and this last story has me convinced that it is a scam. DONT GET TAKEN!
Guys...this company now goes by Buzz Entertainment and they are bogus. I went to the interview myself and the further I researched this company actually continues to change their name and the owner Tracy (who called me for the interview but didn't appear for the interview as she was 'out playing tennis') has several offenses filed against her. Don't believe the hype!
