I was looking for jobs on craigslist and i saw this great job listing that said it had to do with entertainment/ PR division in my area that pays $30 an hour. of course im so excited and call this number right away. There is a recorded message that asks me to leave my name and phone number so i did and recieved a call 2 days later. the strange thing i noticed now was that my phone only rang once and the number was witheld. The lady left a message saying that i had an interview at 12 o clock 2 days later and gave me an address, etc. Looking at the whole situation it really seems too good to be true so i looked it up and this last story has me convinced that it is a scam. DONT GET TAKEN!
thanks for the post! i noticed there wasn't a name of a company on the posting, so when the lady called me back, i asked her for a name of the company and a contact number. the original number was different from the one that she gave me. she said the name of the company was The PR Group. Though this is a real company, I hardly feel that it's the same one.
I actually posted the comment below back in May. I have noticed they continue to post on CraigsList.org slightly adjusting the text in the posting. I noticed they are now going by 'The Promotions Group' with the same contact number: 415-487-6433.
I went to a hiring event in LA and found out that I would have to scout out shopping centers and approach families with children. I would have to do it on the sly since it is technically gorilla marketing. It's for child background work (mostly through central casting) the dumb thing is that they get these families to pay about a grand to sign up when they can easily do it themselves for under $100. I feel sorry for anyone who falls for this.
I just read a new ad on Craigslist and was going to call for an interview. I wanted to know more about the company before i called, but all they had was the phone number listed. I'm glad this site has info on it. I don't want to waste my time on this.
Same thing here in Sacramento, craigslist ad and too good to be true. Been in Marketing for some time and after researching this and getting an interview right off the bat, I'm skeptical. I'll take my chances with a legit company anyday. Beware this really appears to be a scam, possibly proscout!!!! who is known to have bad results and out to grab your money!! btw, they apparently use several bogus names, asked the girl who called about any DBA'S that's "doing business as" and she says "oh yeah, we have that" HELLO!!
