I have BLOCKED this number from calling my phone for the past week and longer. All of a sudden I'm here at my sisters spending a weekend and BOOM, they leave a msg on her home machine. SCARY part is, how do they knw my sister number cause even I don't knw it and how do they knw I'm here?!?!
The female voice said the call was concerning a returned item from my bank. I live on the east coast and have no active financial interests on the west coast. With a FICO score of 839 and my bank is a credit union, and I was one of their first customers over 45 years ago. They call me if there is any kind of question. Total checks written in the past year is 12 (twelve), with none outstanding. This is a foolish game that I will not play.
I agree, they even called my place of employment, and when I called them, they would not provide me any details. I told them to contact my lawyer and the person hung up the phone
Rec'd first call April 13, 2015 but I missed the caller, therefore, I tried to call back and rec'd a voicemail "unable to take the call, leave your name and number, we'll call you back". I couldn't make the name of the company. The only reason I call was do to business I have in that area code and thought it may have been related.
Rec'd the second call today, April 15th and this time I answered but they quickly hung-up the phone. So, I called back and the recording came on again. This time, Ieft them a msg, informing them that I had contacted my agency in this 415 area and they confirmed, I had no call from them. Told the caller, if you call my phone again, the scam will be on you.
The agency in which I communicate with in this area code is the Federal Gov. and when I inquired with them, regarding this 415-582-6742, they immediately told me it was a scam and to be careful not to relay any personal information.
Tell any and everyone you can, if possible, to block this/these phones numbers from your cell or home ph.
Wow, I just googled this number and got this page. I am getting calls from this number 415 582 6742 saying this is about a returned item. Please call back. I never called back but was curious to know who there are so I googled and found this page.
I agree that some elderly people who use checks will fall into this kind of scams.
Beware of these calls.
