File a fraud alert with the credit reporting agencies and also get your credit card number changed. I think these people are credit card thieves. Since they can spoof your phone number, they can call your credit card provider and make it look like the call is coming from your phone. I think all they need is the last four digits of your credit card to access your account. That is one racket, asking for your card number is another. If you reported your card stolen, they should not be able to do anything with it and hopefully they will get caught when they try to buy something with it.
My new approach is to pretend interest and, when they ask for my credit card information, tell them I have to go find the credit card. Then I let them sit and wait while I work on the computer or do something else. In a couple of cases (after they've waited several minutes) I tell them I am on the Do Not Call list and never had any interest in their so-called service.
Just got a call from this number to my cell phone. A recorded message identified them as 'Credit Card Services' offering to lower my credit card rate. There was no option to be removed from the call list, so I pressed '1' to 'speak to one of their friendly service representatives'. I told the service rep that I wanted to be removed from the call list and she told me that I had better 'be nice' or she wouldn't remove me. I told her that what they are doing is against FCC regulations and she told me that I would keep getting calls because I wasn't being 'nice' then she hung up. I have made a complaint to the 'Do Not Call' Registry, but doubt it will help. Why can't anything be done about these annoyance calls?
called me just now. said they were an individual broker that worked with all 4 major credit card companies to broker better deals with your credit cards. they asked me how much credit card debt I had. I told them 2000 (made up a #) they said.. "not even at least 4000?" then they hung up on me.
