Receive many phone calls from 1-417-800-2511 asking for Japanese male 18 or above to participate in a studies. My number is unlisted and registered with the 'do-not-call' list. The rep on the phone was unable to clarify how they get my number.
Got a call on my mobile phone. Nobody on the other end; just dead air. I called the number back. A machine answered with, "If you or a loved one has been diagnoses with arthritis...", then went on to explain how someone could participate in a research study being conducted by "local physicians." No introduction, no personal or company name, nothing - just the research message. I pressed 2 to have the number permanently removed.
You can be on every "Do Not Call" list known to mankind, but it won't stop the auto-dialers (software that starts dialing numbers with XXX-0001 and dials through XXX-9999).
And good luck getting the government to do anything about it. They're too busy trying to find more stuff to sequester.
I got the call today from 417-800-2511. It is about arthritis research. If you listen until the end of the call it says to push 2 to be removed from their list.
