Receive many phone calls from 1-417-800-2511 asking for Japanese male 18 or above to participate in a studies. My number is unlisted and registered with the 'do-not-call' list. The rep on the phone was unable to clarify how they get my number.
Got my first call from this number a few minutes ago. I don't answer suspicious calls, my computer does!
1. DON'T ANSWER unknown call numbers
2. Get a CALL BLOCKING PHONE or SOFTWARE (e.g. PhoneTray & block entire area codes)\
3. DON'T get excited. Just let your call blocking phone or computer software pick up and deal with it.
4. REPORT telemarketers and illegal calls to FCC & the DNC registry. It DOES WORK but takes a lot of complaints for the gov to take action (they're going after Rachael & Heather, but it ain't easy).
5. When you have information, NOTE IT on this site and others like it!
6. SMILE when you read the FCC reports about telemarketing busts - It DOES HAPPEN, just not as quick or often as any of us would like.
