Caller ID said 'NOT IN USE'. I almost laughed. Someone chose that one. So, since it is not in use, I picked up, but said nothing, and was responded to in the same way. After about 20 seconds I just hung up.
I'm on the DNC list and I get these calls all hrs. What I did was give my family their own ring tone this way if it isn't the ring tone a gave them I don't answer the phone, it's only a single ring tone for my family and it works great.
That's what I did. Doctor's office, family, friends, my work colleagues, etc. I assigned them a different ring tone than the default ring on my phone. That way, when it rings, I know if it's something I need to be bothered with. If it's a new contact, after I call them back, I add them to the phone's internal list and assign the special ring tone.
I think that's really the only solution. The government won't stop them, and I don't have any way to track them down to a physical address to sue them, so avoidance is the last resort.
I just called the number back and hit 1 instead of 2. I got a live person, "Georgie" I told her to take me off the list or there would be repercussions. We'll see....
Got a call from this# on 5/16/13 around 2:30. Just a short voice bleep, remotely sounding like my first name, than silence. Good think, I never pick up numbers that I don't recognize.
