This guys accent was so fake I thought it was my Grandson pranking me and my responses totally threw off the caller/scammer. This number currently displays the name Robert Krechel and the "fake Indian-accented con-man" told me hew was from Window Tech Dept (or some such bullshizz) and that I had some virus in my computer that was spreading and I needed to get online immediately with him so he could help me ADD (oh,, I mean "remove" :) it. I eventually just said "this looks very fishy to me so if indeed you are from microsoft/windows then send me something in writing as you should have all my data (including relevant e-mail and standard mail addresses) already and be able to comply with my request without me giving any further information..thank you"..and I hung up..the end.. PEACE!
Yeah, had Robert D. Krech come up on my caller ID as well, even though the guy I talked to said his name was Peter. Heard lots of activity -- voices, mostly -- in the background.
So he tells me that there's something wrong with my Windows computer. I ask him to prove that I have one. He starts rattling off numbers, 00C04FD7D062, tells me to turn on my computer and he'll tell me where to look for this "device address."
I said, "What if I tell you I have a Mac?"
He hung up.
I had a hard time believing that MS tech center was in the Branson/Galena/Springfield area of Missouri. As he was trying to rush me through, I stopped him and said, "my problem is, I just don't believe you." Click, he hung up.
Called last night at 10:45 saying she was from Microsoft Tech Support and we had a computer problem. I was just falling asleep and then she goes on telling me crap until I told her if you wake up my sleeping son, you can deal with a cranky kid, she hung up. So tired of this stuff!
