This company called after a stay at he hospital to survey how the stay was. Snoopy [***] to harvest info for marketing and to give intel to the Hospital billing dept and sell data to other sources.
If a doctor's office is giving ANY of your personal information other than for purposes of filing insurance claims, WITHOUT your permission, they are in violation of HIPAA laws. If the Dr.'s office that you are working for is giving out a patient's phone numbers for a "survey" to a third party, they should be prosecuted for violation of this law. I will personally find out which doctor's office gave out my private telephone number and will fire that doctor! Remember that when you go to a doctor's office, you are PAYING them to provide a service to you. If you do not like that service, you have the freedom and option to "fire" that doctor from your healthcare team.
I recently went in for my yearly exam and this survey firm was hired by the healthcare provider that I went to. I was told that this survey was STRICTLY VOLUNTARY and that if I did not want to do it I DIDN'T HAVE TO.
Healthstream is a legitimate survey/research firm. So rest assured you can answer your phones and tell them, politely, thank-you but no thank-you.
