We have been getting at least two calls a day from this number. We never answer but just have two to three voicemails a day that are simply a hangup. Very annoying.
I don't have my answering machine hooked up. This number has been calling for the last 20 minutes straight. I don't pick up numbers I don't know. So annoying I unplugged my phone.
It's important to understand that this is a computer generated call working off a pre-formulated list of every phone # in the code area. Only i f it gets a "hit"-phone is "answered" it may or may not go ring a phone to a person at their "call center" depending how busy it is, or if it is staffed at all. When one of these programs dials a number a certain many times and there is no "hit" (the ringing goes on endlessly) some of them will eventually automatically delete that # from it's list. A el cheapo or" don't care" operation won't have this feature.This number has called us for 2+ months now-sometimes a day or two without any, then 3-4 a day for a few- Just got caller ID and so glad we have it -BUT- The answering machine picks up so this robo call machine will always get a "hit"- report that this is a "live" number. I thought that I could get call number block from Haw Telcom, and that would end the annoyance- The rep said it would still" Hit"-get answered with a Message that # not available, but he thought my phone would not ring-Gosh-that's all we want, right? Nope- you can not block a call from outside your calling area! Wah?? Dumb dumb dumb. This number is always from Avalon CA (Catalina Island) and never changes, but it isn't a registered number- only one of those made available for this kind of mass calling-I guess like a blind phone bank. Even the actual loction given can be faked. Haw Tel rep did not have any idea why can not block out of immediate calling area. The fact that people have reported different subjects of the calls they did get, looks like this "blind "Caller ID " listing is shared by several junk call groups. Could I suggest that people call their Phone Company and keep up the pressure to let us block the calls? I don't know if or how these "Devices" that cost money will work.
Ditto in response to the two successive calls in short intervals, daily. Our number is registered on the " donotcall.gov" list. I think it's coming from a political party sponsored group.
