I've been receiving calls from Convergys. I looked up the company in Google. It's a legitimate company but I believe someone is spoofing their number. If it was important they would have left a message, none left. I have blocked them.
Thanks John, I just spoke with Merrill Edge yesterday and after I read your post I remember getting a call from Convergys back in the summer around the time I last had dealings with Merrill Edge. You think they would at least use a recording that appologizes for missing you and why they were calling when you do not answer the call
Web site lists several locations, main branch in Ohio and one in the Phillipines: http://www.convergys.com/company/locations/index.php
They list collections on their web site under the solutions tab.
But they claim to be an outsourcing company, so considering where their branches are, it might answer the age old question, “Where did they get our information?”
BBB gives them an A+ with 2 complaints and 1 negative review but does not list them as a collection agency: http://www.bbb.org/cincinnati/business-review ... ati-oh-26001047
Their LinkedIn page mentions everything but collections: https://www.linkedin.com/company/convergys

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
