Our number they call has been converted to our FAX number! It's the one given when anybody we don't know wants a number to call, or share with others... who we don't want to hear from. They can call all they want and unless it's important enough to send a FAX... 'nuff sed!
Our secondary number is the cell phones. They can easily be programmed to reject an unwanted caller.
Several of the wiser posters on here recommend a call blocker. It's aggravating, but if you keep ignoring the unknown calls as you say, they'll gradually decrease. I'd recommend turning off any answering machine on landlines so they get nothing at all from your number. I, too, was getting hammered by junk calls not long ago. I turned off the machine and stopped answering mystery numbers. Other than getting a few calls from the same few numbers, I don't get many at all.
Agree with everyone else here - these guys are the worst!! 8PM phone calls about [***], asking for someone who couldn't possibly have ever had this cell phone number.
