A guy with a foreign accent called, said they were a mortgage co, told him I wasnt interested in a refi, he said thats not why he's calling but kept asking for my home loan info, interest rate, loan amount, etc. He said they are a program to make people aware of better rates. Then started again with asking for info so I just hung up.
They are a scam. Block the number. I close residential real estate transactions with a large bank. I hope you feel better a heart attack is enough stress.
People report several different results: they might hang up when you answer; they might ask about refinancing your house (although they don't seem to know the refi business); they might ask to speak to 'the homeowner' or a certain person's name; they might threaten to have you arrested on a 'complaint; they might insult you or ask crazy questions...
Clearly, it's a scam. They appear to be phishing for information. They might be working with other scammers (like bogus debt collectors) to see who will answer your phone.
If you find out who this is let me know.. I'll call the FCC on there [***]!! They call me somtimes 5 times a day and when I call back I get recipients mail box is full.. how fricking annoying!
