That's NOT true. Those companies will tell you the same thing, too. Look CLOSELY at the FTC code, and it does NOT say "research" companies are exempt. If you want to get specific - they'r soliciting for information. But in fact... government surveys and non-profit research are the ONLY exempt! I went head to head with a research CEO, and finally conceded I was correct.
The number was on my caller I.D. at 4:17 pm MST on 012908. I didn't answer, but assumed it was a telemarketer. That seems to be the case based on reports on this website. Personally, if I don't make the call, I am not giving out any information.....including my opinion. I am on the Do Not Call list and wish that included surveyors, political and religious groups, etc. The only calls I want are from companies I have done business with and only concerning that business (i.e. the order is not coming when I expect, there is a problem with payment, etc). Please do not call me!
