I believe that you, too, are missing the point of this thread. The point is that when these people call (whoever they really are), they hang up when the person being called answers. Then, when we call back, there is either no answer or a busy signal. I understand telemarketers and scammers and legitimate foundations wanting donations. It doesn't make sense, though, that no one responds when the calls are answered. What's the point? They're not getting anywhere. I don't think anyone is questioning the value of supporting local charities. We are simply questioning the purpose of these hang-up calls.

The number he Arkansas State Police Asociaion isles to,place their spam telemarketing calls changes regularly. I received a call from 501-492-3337 with the same Caller ID.
THE ASPA is considered a non-profit/charity, so is exempt from compliance with the Do Not Call list. Unfortunately, if you dig in far enough, you find that this isn't the most fiscally efficient organization.
They sell themselves as the ASPA. I told them I don't give money to anybody over the phone and suggested they mail me their info. I never received anything in the mail. The next time they called back I asked to be removed from their solicitation list. They continue to call multiple times a day, and the latest call tonight was at 8:15 pm. I blocked their solicitation numbers.
