If I have time I have fun. I develop software and frequently have time on my hands while the system is running a compile. If "John" happens to call, fairly frequently, I listen and press 1. Then I leave the talker on the speaker until they finish. Then I spin a yarn. Tonight after we discussed the system and its features, I told him I thought it was a great idea. He took down my address, etc. all made up.
Then I told him I lived in a nursing home, had for years. He'd have to call the director of the home to get payment authorization. He asked me for a credit card, then a checking account number, I told him I didn't need any of those as the home took care of all my bills.
I must have kept the poor [***] on the phone for close to 30 minutes, thinking he made a sale. The I thanked him, told him to make arrangements for payment with the director, and said "Gotta go now, bye!"
If everybody, or even a few, did this every chance they get, these guys would probably give up. Anyway, at least you get a laugh. The more of their time we can waste the better it is for everyone.
We have gotten this call at least twice. You can easily block any number if you have ATT&T. Go to the website and follow the instructions. I realize they are calling from more than one number, but it may help.
Does anyone know: is this illegal? (It definitely should be!) and if so, how do we report it?
The call is a Do Not Call list violation despite the disclaimer that you are receiving a "free" system with shipping already paid. The sole purpose of the call is to sell you an expensive, long term monitoring contract with the lure of the "free" system. The company is the one who actually "paid" for the system despite their insistence that you, a relative or friend already paid for it. When you press them, they do not have your actual contact information, only a phone number. Now what company in their right mind would accept orders for equipment with only a phone number for delivery and no record of the person ordering it?
I,m on a Gov. No call list. I thought! This guy wouldn't let me get a word in inch wise. Why do you think I Cary my cell phone and stop praying on the older people of this country. There's not a thing In this life FREE not even your Help I've fallen and I can't get up Crap!
And another call, today - this is twice that this number has called on the same day as "ENT Consulting", 305-961-1161. Coincidence? I think not. Blocking them both.
