Just received a call from Chris Owens from Hamilton Burke and Associates, he gave a file number but falied to provide a name. Said to call 888-638-8704 otherwise I'd be in big trouble.
I'm an 80 year old senior citizen.
I just answered a call from Hamilton, Burke and Associates. The person on the other end of the phone said, "someone has filed a complaint against you." They said that my wife owes $13,000 from a credit card from 13 years ago. We never had a credit limit that high and don't remember any debt that we had not paid. When I informed Chris Owen and later the general manager Jim Maxwell he began to scream and threaten me. He said, "we'll see who's laughing when I send the police to ..." (stated my street address). I am going to call my state's attorney general.
My wife and I started getting calls from Jacqueline also, first at home, and then on my cell phone while I'm away on business. The number on the caller ID at our home was showing as "Vitelity, LLC", which upon a google search was determined to have complaints against them as well. The bill they are trying to collect on me was from almost twelve years ago. They then called and left a message on my phone today saying they were from Hamelton, Burke Associates, which on search came to this site and the myriad complaints against this number as well. The number they are calling from is (832) 209-2752 with a return number to call being (888) 638-8704. This is annoying and harrassment and these people need to be stopped. Someone else mentioned that they buy debt and try to collect before it falls off your credit report. I just pulled my credit report recently and it's not on there and hasn't been. If you look up the statute of limitations, in California it is 4 years, well beyond the debt they think they are going to collect. STOP these scum of the earth leaches.
I too received a call on my cell phone from (832) 209-2752 on November 26. I ignored the call, but did google to see who these people were. I was relieved to not receive multiple calls as others had posted. Today, December 3, guess what I find in the mail? A letter from them demanding payment for a debt that was PAID nearly 9 years ago IN FULL!!! I responded as such on their letter (they use language stating if you do not respond within 30 days, you are agreeing the debt is valid) and sent it back today. I don't know where they purchase this information from, but its old. What bothers me is that I did not own the phone number they called me on when I owed the debt. I believe I obtained it at least two years after the debt was paid, so that point is troublesome.
