Thanks folks for posting here! If they are ALL being rude, that is what they've been told to do, so asking for a supervisor will do no good. They're trying to win by intimidation. Interestingly, the person who left me a message, a woman, had a very sweet and worried tone, so maybe they're changing their tactics from all bad cops to good cop/bad cop. I have a bad bill, so I was about to call them back and GIVE THEM MY CREDIT CARD # to pay it! Sooo glad I saw your posts! I will deal directly with the company I owe the money to.

I have to say that these posts are typical at best.  And kind of sad really.

First off, Capital Recovery Systems is a collection agency.  If they are calling for you, its cause you did not pay your bill.  And please don't waste your breath with "well its only $200", if its only $200 why haven't you paid it in over 4 months.

Second, dont pretend that you had no idea you still owed the doctor money.  A typical collection agency charges their clients between 25 and 40 percent to collect money for them.  Trust me a $0.42 stamp would have been cheaper, they definately mailed you a bill and you did not pay it.  Thats how you got sent to collections.

Third, the legal terminology for a person who receives services and has paid for them is a customer/client.  The legal terminology for a person who received products or services and has yet to pay for them (as in past due bill) is DEBTOR, not customer.  Businesses want repeat business from customers, not debtors.  If you were paying your bill, the doctors office would have treated you like a customer.  Since you have chosen not to pay your bill they sent you to collections.  The doctors office tried being nice, thats when you were a customer, now that you have chosen not to pay them they dont know what else to do so they send you to collections.  Since the collections agency reasonable believes that being nice to you did not work for their client, its reasonable to skip right over the being nice phase and treat you like you would treat someone who stole money from you.  Cause when you think about it, that is exactly what you are doing when you dont pay your bills.  If I went to a restaurant and ate my lunch and then walked out without paying, that would be stealing right.  So when you walk into the doctors office, let the doctor treat you, then dont pay him, whats the difference.

Finally, if you wanted to mail in a check for your bill, you should have A) paid the bill the doctor sent you   or   B) mailed in a check when you received notification from the collections agency that you had a debt in their office    So yeah when they have to call you, you should not be shocked that they want you to pay right now, you are after all way way way past due to end up in their office in the first place.  Waiting for you to mail in a check has not worked in the past and their clients hired them to collect the money, not collect hollow promises with proof of so many broken promises staring them in the face.

Yes, I received a call from Ron Bates.  Yes, it was a blocked line.  No, it was not a scam.  Yes he had my credit report in front of him, it is legal to obtain someones credit report when they owe you money.

Do I like the fact that I had a bill in collections?  NO.  Am I proud of that?  NO.  Am I going to pretend that it is anyones fault by my own?  NO.  Collections agencies are not fun to deal with, but thats the point, so you won't do it again.

If you think you are being scammed by someone, call the office you know you owe the money to and ask if they retained a collection agency.  Ask for the number of the collection agency and call the number they give you.  Or pay the doctor directly.  Or dont pay at all.  Ultimately you pay your bills or you don't pay your bills.  Who cares really?  But don't try to pretend you are better than everyone else, cause if this company is calling for you, trust me, you are just like the rest of us.  I looked in to it and they have been in business for many years and are properly licensed in many states.  If they were a scam they would not continuously have their licenses renewed.

The volume of unintelligent chatter about this phone number leads me to believe my views on this matter are well founded.

The calls I have been getting are from a Howard Fisk or Fiske at CR Systems.  508 553 1923.  He is a VERY nasty piece of work.  A medical records error caused a charge to not get filed with the insurance company.  The insurance company has said that it will pay and that I am NOT liable.  However, for FOUR months this jerk has been harassing me and trying to force me to pay by credit card over the phone.  I have filed complaints with the FTC and the Attorney General's office, and am now seeking to file a lawsuit.  It is tiem CR Systems was SHUT DOWN!!!
