Caller id said Dir Assist MA. When I answered 'Nicole' asked for me or my wife by name. When I asked, "Who wants to know?" she said she wanted to know if we wanted our flue cleaned. When I told her we were on the DNC list, phone call went silent.... I will report them.
This company says it is Interstate, for furnace, chimney and vent cleaning . The tactic is to "pretend' they did biz with you before, but indeed they did not, and are lying to get people to hire them. I filed with the Do Not Call Reg, which rarely prosecutes, but here's hoping.
I am receiving several calls a day from phone numbers that have different area codes (for example 860, 609, 908) but the same numbers after that - 555-6769. They seem to be from the same caller. Hang ups on my machine or answering the call, the person addresses me by my name but that is it. Silence! Have asked them to stop calling. Of course they haven't. When I dial them back I hear that the number is out of service.
And how do you block so many numbers?
Tempted to turn off the ringer but I should be able to use my phone!
