Recd call from 508-774-9885 and its a recording saying "" don't hung up this is not a solicitatiin call. And what there tryn to sell u is meds that ur insurance can cover for pain relieved...
Won't do any good to block the number. Your number is in their system and theirs changes. You'll get more calls from this scammer as I did. Not answering doesn't work either, I ignored but after four times in one minutes time I finally answered to tell them to stop calling but they hang just as you say "Stop...".
I do not answer calls from those I am not familiar with and will continue block these calls. I would rather hear one ring instead of 3 or 4 that results in an unwanted message.
Yup, got their call on my cell. Didn't answer --- I NEVER* answer calls from unrecognized numbers on any of my phones (home, cell & business) --- came here instead, saw the previous posts & blocked the number (when I block numbers they do NOT cause my phones to ring at all).
There doesn't seem to be any legal recourse that will end these annoyances, but if EVERYONE refused to answer, the scammers, lacking any financial benefit from their failed attempts, would eventually throw in the towel.
*A few days ago, I received a similar call on my business line. Rather than ignore it, I answered & IMMEDIATELY hit the "hold" button, which plays an extremely loud, annoying "ping, ping, ping" sound. The caller hung up quickly, so I didn't bother blocking that number, as I'm quite confident that he/she/they won't call again.
It doesn't do any good to block numbers, they spoof different ones. Once you answer a call, they know it is a live number and they don't care if you are not interested or if you are hostile to their phone shill. It would be take more of their time and expense to remove you from their list, so you stay forever and ever.
What I have done is to set my default to "no ring" and assign ring tones to known numbers in my contact list. If the call from an unknown number is important, they will leave a message. So far better peace of mind and no problems, however I realize that some are in situations where this might not work.
It is unfortunate that the crooks find enough patsies in their wide net to make it profitable to continue.
If the government was serious about this problem, they could put the NSA on it and it would be over pretty quickly.
