My wife got a call from DCS and asked their name and the lady wouldn't give it, so she asked for a telephone number and she wouldn't give that either. She wanted to know if we wanted windows or siding. Said she'd call back later when I was home. She called back and identified herself as Bonnie from DSC Associates out of Des Moines, IA. and asked if was interested in replacing windows. She asked for me by name. I asked her how she got my name and she said they were calling everyone in our area... The number she called from was (515) 473-6062. I see from other posts that the owner of the companys phone number is (515) 473-6060 We're also on the NO Call List...
O.K. all have fun with this information. The company DCS Associates claim to be a construction company that installs and sells windows and siding. The owners name is Dean Coppi. Their main number is 515-473-6060. They claim to have reps. in several states that install these products. They use several numbers and call the area a phone room that most of these people sit and call from. They do not like to answer their own phones. Best thing to do is report them to the attorney general's office or Consumer Affairs in your state.
At 3:11 p.m., Monday, May 11, 2009, DCS Associate called my home from 515 473-6062, soliciting business for a replacement window company.
When i protested that their call was to a number on both the United States and Wisconsin Do Not Call list, they informed me that DCS Associate was "federally exempt" from the lists' requirements. When I explained that their company had no exemption from calling my number, their solicitor's supervisor became rude. He hung up after being told I intended to file complaints with both Wisconsin and Federal authorities.
DCS Associate called: ask for mY husband by name, only used wrong first name. He sounded very angry and was rude. When my husband came to the telephone the caller hung up. This is disturbing and very uncalled for!!!!
If you pick up the phone when it is ringing, it will more than likely be a collection agency on the other end looking for any kind of info to connect you to an account or create one. If you see the number on your caller ID and call it, you will actually connect to the actual party that the number was assigned to.
It's called phone spoofing. This is mostly done by collection agencies. They pretend to be someone else and getting enough info from you to create an account. Next thing you will get is a paper threat to pay something in full or go to court. Some of us have been dealing with these bottom feeders for months and years. We have programs that track and trace these numbers and then match them to the time and dates with the phone company. None have matched the actual caller. They also spoof themselves as your neighbors. Advice: take your bill or some proof to the phone provider and have them trace. If you owe money or have ever in the past, you can bet places like these will be faking themselves as someone else to get the data they need. Make note that these collection agencies can get a lot of info on people by accessing credit reports. Type:"phone spoofing" in your browser or here's a site for a start: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caller_ID_spoofing . Everyone should be aware of these activities for their own protection. Also see: "predictive dialers" and "VOIP".
Note: Two known collection agencies that were tracked: Law Offices of Joe Pezzuto - Collect America and Portfolio Recovery Services.
I've got another number that is very odd. Recieved a call from 212-122-9666. There is no message that you can understand but some gargle noise. Googled the number and seen where I wasn't the only one getting calls from this number.
