This cannot possibly be legitimate. IF there is a valid debt, the creditor must contact you in writing, there must be an address on letterhead, a phone number, it must be signed by a real person, there must be an account number given, and it must clearly show to whom the debt is owed and why. If you have not received that, there is no legitimate debt. Anyone who calls out of the blue and tells you that you owe them money is practicing an extortion scam, or a phishing expedition.

ALWAYS record their calls. Log their calls. Tell them you are recording immediately when you answer the phone. If they object tell them they can end the conversation, otherwise they WILL be recorded. If they are calling the wrong number tell them you will file complaints with their attorney general, your attorney general and the FTC. Demand their physical address to send a certified cease and desist letter. Google it to make sure it is a correct address. Send the letter. If they call again sue them for a FDCPA violation. If they claim you have a debt DEMAND a letter of validation be sent through the MAIL. If the debt is past the statute of limitations do not pay it. Research the FDCPA ans sue for each and every violation. You can make a few bucks on their violations of the law. Be civil, but do not let them talk over you. Yell over them if necessary. Remember RECORD their calls :).
Looking back at my phone log, this outfit started calling late February, and generally calls every other day or so. One day they called twice. Most of the initial calls were from a number in Georgia -678-331-7257. The caller ID varied, at first, they were using "Georgia" then they switched to The CBE group, at this number and the Georgia number.
Right around the time that this outfit started pestering us, we also started getting calls from "UNKNOWN" which did not show either a name OR a phone number. They are real pests, and sometimes call as often as three times a day. AND around the same time, NCO started calling from 716-404-2231. They actually leave a message -- the other two do not. NCO tells us to call back at another number, 888-871-6484. Could all three pests be related? We do not have any unpaid bills.
