Asked “Is this XXXX?” Knew my first name HOW? (I never answer that question until I know who’s calling.)
Had heavy Asian accent.
Was calling from an extremely noisy room with lots of people talking & lots of static on the line.
Said she was “Calling from U.S. Medical Center" (not THE US…..—dead giveaway!)
Being an RN all over the globe for 40 years, I said "I don't think there is such a place" & hung up.
There is no doubt these people are breaking US & NY laws and probably gathering personal information to sell to hackers or other criminals.

I just received a call from this phone number with a guy with a middle eastern accent asking me did someone in my household have a hip replacement I told him no. Then he said did anyone have a surgery within the last ten years, I told him no. He said thank you and we both hung up the phone. They are just fishing for information. You called my household with important information yet you don't have a name. Then a few minutes later I received a call from someone talking about furthering my education. These people don't quite and they keep trying until they get your information and scam you. I've already been a victim of a debt collection scam and they keep reinventing themselves with various scams until they get your money or information. Please don't fall for it and be the next victim. Don't give them any information.
Caller with an accent so thick I could barely understand him, told me I had won an all expenses paid trip to a Las Vegas casino. While I was on the phone with him, I Googled the casino he named and it doesn't exist.
My caller ID shows unknown name. I usually let answering machine get it but as usual they don't leave a message, only hang on line long enough to indicate I have a message on my machine. I picked up after second ring but didn't say anything (I made sure they didn't hear any other noises, tv, etc). I then heard several clicks and hung up when I heard a telephone ringing. I have been doing this now with all the other unwanted calls I get. If it doesn't stop them from calling at least I feel I am wasting their time and money (especially the long distance callers).
call from 516 – 200 – 3962.. Male with foreign accents introduced himself as representing US medical care. Researching that shows it is a phony number.
