Asked “Is this XXXX?” Knew my first name HOW? (I never answer that question until I know who’s calling.)
Had heavy Asian accent.
Was calling from an extremely noisy room with lots of people talking & lots of static on the line.
Said she was “Calling from U.S. Medical Center" (not THE US…..—dead giveaway!)
Being an RN all over the globe for 40 years, I said "I don't think there is such a place" & hung up.
There is no doubt these people are breaking US & NY laws and probably gathering personal information to sell to hackers or other criminals.

Received call re compensation for bladder surgery. Asked how they got my information; wouldn't say. Then I was asked had anyone else in family or friends had surgery
I think this same number has called me in the past asking did someone in my household have a hip replacement (they did not ask for a specific name). I told him no and he said OK thank you and hung up. Today about 8:15 I see the number and a guy ask to speak to Mrs XXXXX this time he knew my last name. I could hear others talking in the background and this gentleman had an accent (middle eastern). I told him he had the wrong number and he said OK and we both hung up. The first time they didn't know my name and the second time they asked for me by my last name so these people get are obviously sifting through the internet and getting information or information is sold to them. Please don't give them any information about yourself. I've been the victim of a debt collection scam and I think these people are selling my information. I get phone calls about debt collection, weight loss material (they claim I showed interest online), surgery, furthering my education. It's like when one fails they just recreate another scam until they get you on something.
Just received a call from this number. The guy had what sounded like an Indian accent and was asking for someone with the last name Baxter. After I told him he had the wrong number he asked for my last name which I refused to give him. He then continued to try to find out who I was to take me off their list. When I still refused he said that it was about my compensation from medical insurance?! I questioned him as to why he would be calling someone I don't know with the name Baxter about my compensation. He then tried again for my last name to remove my number. I told him he did not need that information he already has my number and that is what he needs to remove. He then began to argue with me. I told him he had my number and do not call it again. I will be blocking and reporting this number. It showed up on the caller ID as Glen Head NY.
