Both my husband & I received texts within seconds of each other stating: "Compass Bank-Important Notification Please call 516-302-1002 Your Attention Is Requested".
both my mom and i got a text. it said it was from wells fargo and neither of us use wells. i am 100% sure that if there was some issue with our bank accounts, an actual person would call and leave a message. my bank phone stalked me when i wouldnt answer their calls (about credit card fraud) and in their voice mail they said to call the number on the back of your card. if you are concerned about these type of messages i suggest that you call the number on the back of your card. NOT the phone numbers listed in the texts or voice mails.
Notify the police IMMEDIATELY and report the incident to the appropriate authorities like the DNC list and your state attorney general's office. She can also file a report with her local FBI agent or State BI (She can also file online at FBI.gov). I would highly recommend getting credit monitoring (Actually, go ahead and just do it) with Life-lock or with her regional credit monitoring service like TransUnion or Equifax. If fraud is found, she can go through the almost impossible and arduous process of getting her SS changed. But that would be the last resort.
NEVER EVER GIVE OUT PERSONAL INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE. Telephone scams are the new email spams.
Beware! Don't give out your personal info. Text said it was from Wells Fargo but when you call the recording says B of A regarding a security issue and asks for your social security number. I hung up and called the number again and got another recording asking for my SS number again so I could put money on my prepaid debit card (which I don't own) This is a scam!
