i have received calls from this number 2 times in the past few days. Did not answer as number is not familiar to me. Thanks to all of you who have posted your results.
He call me today March12,2015 and said he was from Windows PC and there is problem with the windows update and ask if My computer with me now , I just ask him to call me again after one hour becouse I was outside and just check it the number in this website and read all the comments I already block the number
Called my cell phone at 9:57 AM PDT yesterday (Friday, 13 March 2015). I did not answer, and they didn't leave a voice mail message. Caller ID says "NY, USA".
If I had known they were a "Microsoft tech support" scam, I would have spooled up a virtual machine for them to play with, recorded the call and the screen activities, and had a lot of fun with them. Oh well.
FOR NON-TECHNICAL PEOPLE - NEVER give any information or respond to one of these "technical support" scams. Don't give them access to your information or your computer - they will find all kinds of "problems" while infecting your computer with malware (viruses) at the same time.
It's a scam guys. I play along and even start harassing back. The guy says his name is Jake Smith...but you can tell he's Indian (India). Play along, then get nasty. I work in IT and have for over 20 years. I had the guy so frazzled he hung up on me. I've used "blacklist" to block the number but they have a lot of numbers in their phone bank to call from. Blocking one number won't stop it.
