Got a call yesterday (on our cell phone which we use only in emergencies and noone should have the number!) mentioned credit card company, hung up immediately as they were using up our minutes! Ridiculous. Can't believe they asked for someones credit card number, scary!
I received this call too. It's clearly a scam outfit looking to nab CC and PII. It's so sad that people still fall prey to simple scams like this.
Having an unpublished number won't stop this from happening. This scam outfit probably uses a robo-dialer. The dialer will just start making calls to any number. It will start with 555-001-0000 and just keep dialing (555-001-0001, 555-001-0002, etc.) until some poor sap answers and gives away their CC information.
Tried to call it back, the number doesn't accept incoming calls. Before I finished saying I don't have any credit cards the [***] hung up on me...rude hoe. I'd rather not waste my unlimited minutes dealing with that madness.
This is a scam. They hung up once a question was asked. Ive worked in many call centers and they are not allowed to hang up on people (unless the person working is looking to get fired or not doing their job). If itsa legit company they will always be able to give you any information your looking for or transfer you to someone who can.
