Guy with British accent (I think it was British) called twice, identified himself as "Steve Martin," and left messages both times saying that I had committed some unspecified offenses and that I would have to appear before a "magistrate judge" or a grand jury. Otherwise there would be some kind of "enforcement action" by the U.S. Treasury. Concluded with something like "help us to help you."
I received a call from this number several times today. Once I picked it up, once I let go to my answering machine and once it hung up on me. The message that it started to sprawl off to me and the message left on my answering machine, went as follows:
"Ignoring this will be an intentional second attempt to avoid the initial appearance before a magistrate judge or a grande jury for a federal criminal offense. My number is 530-405-3756. Advise you to cooperate with us and help us to help you."
I have submitted a complaint on the Do Not Call List as my number is on this registry. I suggest anyone else that receives this call from Woodland Ca. do the same. Even if your number is not listed on the Do Not Call list, you can still lodge a complaint as it is a robo call. There should be a real person on the other end of the call, and the do not call list allows for you to submit a complaint for robo calls.
I called back the Number and spoke with a "Robert Mathew". I asked to speak with a supervisor and he said that he was the supervisor. I then asked to speak to someone higher than himself and the said that there is no one higher than himself.
