Holy Crap!! Same thing happened. I do have a outstanding payday loan, but not through them. I told them that my phone was a crappy phone that I can't hook up to the internet!! I am glad I did some research.
This company keeps calling me saying they are with american law associates and someone has filed a lawsuit against my social and proceeds to repeat my social over the phone. This is the second number i have recieved a call like this from. The first number i was able to trace to exact location along with a full name. I contacted my local law enforcement agency and filed a report. Since tehy had all of my personal information (that can be used for identity theft) I placed a warrant for the persons arrrest. Now I am waitinf for the local FBI to contact me with forwarding information. Stand up to these people, especially when they have personal information and is repeating it to you over the phone without actually knowing who you are. Even if it is a person of opposite sex, they can sell your information to someone else. Take action against these idiots and lets put them in their place. I did with the first one and if this person doesnt stop contacting me, i will do the same.
Reading these is so funny, I got the same phone call today, even same dollar amount or Warrants will be issued for my arrest. I told him I wanted to verify with my bank that funds went into my account, said if I hung up a warrent would be issued WTH ever I am not stupid. I have filed a police report, called Better Business Bureau and notified all the credit bureaus. These guys sound scary at first then they BS.
Same thing with me what everybody is saying up above. these people have been calling me for months and I don't even listen or call them back. BUT,they called me at my workplace the other day at a time I DO NOT even work. They had one of my co-workers leave me a note to call "Dustin Murphy" and that it was a legal matter. That next morning I called the number they gave (315) 701-5562 and they called themselves "American Law Firm" Very much middle eastern/Indian accent. Well I asked for Dustin Murphy and instead talked to "Dave Lawrence." Some old speel as you are all talking about. To make a lot stong short I called a "Scam Alert" number I had and they asked me lots of questions and reported them to the FBI! They are definitely a scan without a doubt!
K, well first off...............when they place these threatening calls and want to read your affadavit, they don't even tell you WHY first. Then they say they are a laywer working for a law firm and that you will need a lawyer and I will have to go to my courthouse or someone will be to my house to arrest me.
Well, don't let them ever scare you into that. I talked to someone who investigates these SCAMMERS and reports them to the FBI. He said first off they are NOT ALLOWED when they leave a message at your work place say what it is about..............LEGAL MATTER, FINANCIAL, WHATEVER IT IS, THEY CAN SAY NOTHING. No "real' lawfirm would and cannot do that.
Second, it they say they are bringing you to court and you are being supoened.....where is the paperwork to you stating this? WHAT A JOKE! They HAVE TO SEND PAPERWORK TO YOU FIRST, EITHER MY MAIL, TO YOUR DOOR, IF THEY WANT TO SEND THROUGH A PAPER AIRPLANE, you as the victim HAVE TO SEE SOMETHING IN WRITING BEFORE ANY ARREST OR COURT APPEARNCE WOULD EVER TAKE PLACE! It's almost funny, but really really sad people have to make such a dishonest living such as this. All I can say to them is GET A REAL JOB, LOSERS and quit calling me! They need to be caught and I hope to God there are not too many suckers out there that fall in fear into their scam. If you did not borrow any money in the first, then you just hang up on them. Don't even listen to the fake and sickening speel! HANG UP THE PHONE! If they call you at work, warn your supervisor that you are "a victim of scam" and they will understand and even know how to stop the calls.
