Received a voice mail that had the beginning cut off. Computer-generated female voice indicated that the call was from the IRS and should not be disregarded. However, multiple Internet searches for the number suggest it is an AT&T mobile phone in Woodland, California.
Don't call this one back, folks. Looks like some lowlife scammer is preying on people during tax season.

I had the same thing happen to me just now. A computer female voice saying that she is a police officer with the IRS and to call back before any action is taken. This sounded weird. For one why would a police officer use a computer generated voice and secondly why would it be from CA and thirdly I haven't had any problems with the IRS. I don't know how they got my number unless it was random. I Googled this number 531-661-8142 and found other complaints. Don't go for it ! So many scams nowadays you really have to be on your guard.
I received this phone call today as well. (530-661-8142) I answered and received the automated female voice from the "IRS". Hearing the message, I knew right away something wasn't right. But I decided to call. (I like messing with these guys). The first time I called, it rang about ten times, then it hung up my call with no answering message or anything. I called back right away and a man answered. All he said was "hello". So I replied "hi". When he asked for my information, I told him he had just called me. He wanted my information again, so I asked for his ID number. He gave me some bogus number and then I proceeded to tell him that the IRS does not contact you by an "automated officer" and that if he needed to get in touch with me so bad he could mail me the info, since he "already had my information". I then continued to harass him about getting HIS info and he hung up on me. Obviously this is a scam, but I think ill be calling them back several times. The more time they are on the phone with me, the less time they have to scam some poor elderly person or someone who doesn't know better
Got a voice mail from the same number saying the same thing. Julie Smith is the w/o.end name I got. No clue how they got my number. .ales me mad though
