Laws are meant to control criminals, not the innocent. All telecoms have the ability to track their traffic and a reporting system combined with automated monitoring of activity can allow for numbers to be disconnected automatically for suspicious and/or illegal purposes.
I think what the poster means is that thanks to toothless federal regulation that was bought and paid for by the telecom lobbyists, we the peons are forced to take it. This is wrong and needs to be changed at a national level. Am I wrong?
DNC works reasonably well. But it is meant for law-abiding telemarketers. It will not stop criminals and scofflaws. Call blocker is your best bet. And NO, you don't have to take it.l
