I also received this call earlier today, and just now decided to check my voicemail. Terry sounded like a grumpy lunch lady She told me that my student loans were delinquent, and that I needed to call back today or further action would be taking. Not impressed
These people ID themselves as "Student Loan Department"--department of what, they do not say. This Terry Weston also calls from : 616-277-2471. Seems to specialize in student loan scamming. There's also a Grace Milton who calls from the same number. They may be located in Florida.
Almost certainly debt scammer concentrating on student debt. Don't know exactly what the scam consists of but maybe these people are engaging in:
How do you report something like this to the police? I just got off the phone with this lady. She hung up every time I asked her a question. If you don't immediately give your credit card info she gets off the phone.
Now why should anyone call you back? Oh you expect to earn your money by stealing and extortion and it would make it even easier if they called you back.
