I received a call from a female stating she was calling from Coopertown courts (in another county from mine) and referred to me by my maiden name which has not been used in 15 years and never in this state. Even if I did ever owe an old fine, the statute of limitations would have by far passed at this point. This is absolutely an old scam. They are bottom feeders that search through old court records. Why would anybody be stupid enough to pay these scum? They are misrepresenting themselves as the court (which is illegal according to the Fair Credit Reporting Act). If you think you may owe something, call the actual courts and pay. Don't ever pay an actual debt collector. It doesn't improve your credit and in many cases, it re-opens the case. You don't owe these people anything.
I'm willing to bet that anyone who has something nice to say about these people is probably working for them. They troll these sites and post positive comments. So this guy had a 4 year old court matter that he completely forgot about and was glad they called him.....yeah, right.
I have been receiving calls from this organization for 10 solid months(harrassment), 2-3 times per week. The message is always the same, I need to contact them for an important business matter, and they leave a case number. Lately, they have been using this new number 614-575-0590 but the old number is 800-693-6835. I never answer unless I recognize the number or the caller so I will never answer them(whoever they are). I make enough money that I can pay my bills and I always pay all of my bills so I know I don't owe anybody any money.
Two things: the zip code 43230 is from Gahanna, Ohio which is on the eastern border of Columbus, Ohio. Second, this person who calls itself Skeptic is a shill(a plant or a stooge). A person who is paid by this company to post this false message.
We've had a few phone calls and received a statement in the mail from this company, Capital Recovery Systems. The bill said it was for the city court where I live. I figured it was bogus, why would a court use a collection agency? I've never heard of that happening, I thought if you owed the court money they just take you to court! After calling the city court I found out that this is actually a legitimate debt for an ambulance bill my husband had in 2005 after a car accident. If they're calling you for a bill for your local court I would suggest you call the court yourself to verify but for my husband this did turn out to be a legitimate bill.
These people keep trying to tell me that I owe a fine for a camera red light ticket in Columbus, Ohio. The car in question that the camera has a photo of is a car I sold 6 months prior but the new owner obviously never changed the title over (at that point). As much as I hate to admit this, I got in trouble with the law and have been on a house arrest ankle monitor for the last 4 years. I am not allowed to hardly leave my residence, let alone the state of TEXAS where I have lived for the past 32 years. Never been to Ohio, and attempts to prove there is no way possible (with official TX court documents) I am the person driving the vehicle in question are met with resistance and uncooperative people. I suppose it's time I deal with them on their level and have some fun with these idiots. They obviously take joy in harassing people with incessant calls and hollow threats, so why not find amusement laughing in their faces instead of letting them see us get worked up over a situation. These people on a phone hundreds or thousands of miles away prey on our emotions and take us out of our normal character through their words and the stress they try to create in our lives. Then they try to blackmail us with offers of a solution (to the chaos they created in the first place) if we give them money. These people know that a lot of the claims they pursue are totally bogus and false, yet they call and harass anyways. So, they must get a kick out of it. I have found that if I counteract their behavior with behavior that gives them the impression that I find joy and amusement in playing their little games then they quickly lose interest in calling me. Sounds odd, but it has worked for me twice before (much to the chagrin of my wife who wanted me to get off the phone). An hour spent on the phone poking at these idiots is worth the peace of mind that comes after when the phone calls stop coming after that. Hopefully, third time will be just as successful as the two times before. Good luck to everyone else as well with these scumbags...
The caller said they were from "Credit Recovery Services" and left a message for a deadbeat friend of my daughters regarding something with the local court system. Left a phone number and reference number. I called the number and of course could not get through so I left a message in their general mailbox that the person they were looking for never lived at our address and to stop calling our number to try to find her. Then I blocked the number.
