I received a call from a female stating she was calling from Coopertown courts (in another county from mine) and referred to me by my maiden name which has not been used in 15 years and never in this state. Even if I did ever owe an old fine, the statute of limitations would have by far passed at this point. This is absolutely an old scam. They are bottom feeders that search through old court records. Why would anybody be stupid enough to pay these scum? They are misrepresenting themselves as the court (which is illegal according to the Fair Credit Reporting Act). If you think you may owe something, call the actual courts and pay. Don't ever pay an actual debt collector. It doesn't improve your credit and in many cases, it re-opens the case. You don't owe these people anything.
A female person left a message for someone's name that is not mine, she said something about Franklin County Courts. If they had used my name I might have called them back just to see what it's all about but since they called for someone else I will ignore it.
Really? I know I owed Licking County Court over $2,000. It is all payed off now. Am I glad they called me? Hell no, who is happy when a collector calls. I am glad that I paid my debt and can move on with my life. I ran away from my court issues for a long time. I realized that you can't run away from problems; just take care of them.
This company IS legit, and they are calling for a court payment that someone has defaulted on.
I do not and will not work for a collection company. Just saying =)
What is the name and address of this company? And why would they be collecting on a debt owed to the court? Wouldn't the Sheriff come and take you before the Judge if you owed money? Most Judges would issue a bench warrant for your arrest for contempt of court in you were required to pay them money.
