I get calls from this number on a regular basis, and I don't even bank with Chase. I never have, and I probably never will.
I find local credit unions to be much more attractive than larger banks, any day.
I feel bag for whoever falls for the unsolicited calls, though. Hopefully someone finds a way to stop them. I hate to imagine just how many people have been victimized by the criminals behind this number who are running the operation.
Received 2-3 missed calls from this number - called it back and it was answered by Chase Bank Automated System, Answered the Call the next day - A lady identified herself as calling from Chase Bank - gave me her name - her ID number - and the recorded message spiel - then gave me recent pertinent info about my commercial bank account (which had been negative for 2 weeks due to a large jobsite accident) and never asked me for anything other than when I would be able to make account current. I told her the first insurance payment was due in a week and she made a note on my account giving me 3 weeks to bring account current before it closed. Not a scam.
Well, even if that were true... It is still possible that there are people out there who could be cloning this number and using it to PHISH personal information from people with the ultimate goal of scamming them. Just because any given number shows up on your Caller ID, doesn't mean it's from the actual party they claim to be. I received a call from this number just a week or two ago from a man with a foreign accent (unidentifiable), claiming that my chase account had been compromised and that to confirm that I was the intended party, all I had to do is relinquish all kinds of information such as name, address, acct number, last four digits of SSN, etc. The funny thing is, like the guy further up in this page I dont bank at chase either. I use wells fargo, who I've never overdrafted with.
So this indeed IS A SCAM. Or at least my incident was. Don't be a victim. I'm sure you are telling the truth, and you indeed actually did have a legitimate interaction with chase pertaining to your personal account, but that doesnt mean that other people here didn't actually have a phishing scare. THen again, you could actually be a scammer who came across the comments regarding this phone number and could be completely fabricating your remarks, just to dupe the people into trusting this number. Just sayin'!
