People...this is a legitimate number of Chase Bank that is used to call accounts that have been overdrawn for a period of time.
You should know if your account is in this status and should return/accept the phone call to tell them when you'll have the account positive. I think it has to be within 3 weeks of the overdraft or the account may be automatically closed. This is a very serious thing you should never, ever let happen since it may prevent you from ever again being able to open a bank account at almost every bank in the USA...they all share this information through a 3rd party source.
If you have not overdrawn your account or don't have an account with Chase, then you are receiving this call through a phishing scam that is cloning the phone number.
It is definitely a division of Chase...I was avoiding answering until I looked here and read through the "scam" notes..I knew I was overdrawn on my Chase account so when they called again I answered...They said they were from Chase Bank and that I was overdrawn...I told them I had already called and knew I had 60 days until they would close my account, and that I was planning on making it current before then...They reminded me of what exact date the 60 days would be, and notated my account...They never asked me for my account or routing number, or even any personal info for that matter...
This is the first time I have received a call from this number, and I have banked at Chase. However, I tend to agree with those who have suggested exercising caution. Certainly, unless you are confident that a caller is an official representative of the financial institution where you bank, hold credit cards or have loans, do not give out information. Call the institution in question and ask them if they have been trying to reach you: a simple, foolproof solution...
Note: I live outside of the US. It is, therefore, highly unlikely that Chase (or any other US banking organization) is actually calling me. Thus, in my situation...likely a scam.
I have received several calls from this number which I did not answer. When I called back, the Chase automated system answered. My account has been overdrawn several weeks, so its probably their collection dept.
