Phone number is legit. The didn't leave a message so I called back. It's Chase bank in regards to overdraft account. Guy gave me his name, employee number, name of business and location. Asked me when account would be current, I have him a date and that was the end.
This IS a Chase number. However, I would not be surprised if scammers are spoofing the number.
I do have a Chase account that is horrifically overdrawn. I called back and she only needed my name and last 4 of my social to verify. Told her when my direct deposit was hitting and she notated my account.
I did ask why they can't leave a message and she said it was just policy.
So, if you answer and they ask for your account number and routing, then it's a scammer spoofing. I'd imagine the legitimate caller would just notify you that their with Chase and you have am overdrawn account
I've just received a call from this number. I didn't pick up the call. Went to google and found the number listed in White Pages as Chase Bank. Then I've found this post.
I've called Chase and asked if this was a number associated with them. The operator said no.
Then, I got a call again from this number and confronted the caller saying what Chase told me. The woman said "call again and ask them to transfer you to Chase Collections".
I did so and they transferred the call to collections. And it happened that one of the accounts was overdrawn for 12 days. Small amount but still overdrawn (we manage more than 70 accounts here) I told them about what the chase operator told me about the number and she said that sometimes the operators don't know the numbers that chase uses for outgoing calls. She confirmed me that they were calling me from Chase Collections through this number.
THIS IS A CHASE BANK NUMBER. If you don't trust, call Chase and ask them to transfer you to collections.
