I had the same thing just happen to me now at my work. Except without the expletives. He just hung up because I went along with and thought it was one of our suppliers introducing himself in a weird way.
Claimed he was calling from "Global." Said the "head of maintenance" had just called him, and "what was his name again?" to place an order. Kept pressing him for a PO number, and he kept trying to press for a name. "If you give me names I'll tell you which it is." He finally got frustrated with my stonewalling and said he'd remember the name and call back.
Sorry, scammer; you're not getting thru this gatekeeper today.
Same exact thing. Started getting flustered when he asked the correct spelling of my named. Claimed he was with Global and had Home Depot Gift Cards he was sending to his customers.
Said his name was Joe and had a $100 Home depot card for my loyal purchases and named dropped my maintenance guy and said he was from Global...he even asked PO# and for my home address...very weird
I just received a phone call from a guy asking for my Manager of Finance, said that it was urgent that I page him, and that the M.O.F. told this guy to have him paged. Well we don't have a paging system and that is something the M.O.F. would not have told him. Once I explained we did not have a paging system, he asked me to give him his cell phone number, which he had before but seem to have "lost". I told him that I did not know if he had a cell number but that the M.O.F. was on a conference call and I could put him through to his voicemail. He accepted but hung up in mid transfer. Yeah, just like all the others. Cold caller, scammer, solicitor.... We do not want you business, please do not call us back!
