I just got a call on my cell phone from this number. It was GE Home Security asking if I would like a free home security system in exchange for putting their sign in my yard. I've added the number to my reject list now.
It is search engine to see if anyone will answer. Most of the time there will not be anyone on the other end. If you answer, they report it to other solictors that will call at that time. It's a horrible cycle. Best bet is not to answer and they will give up after a while.
With all calls like this I store them in my phone under the name Crap, Crap 1, Crap 2, etc. The next time they call I see it is Crap and cancel. They continue to waste time waiting for my vm to answer while I hear nothing. The worst thing they can have happen is to waste time, so the more I can waste the better.
A call from this number came through just after 8:30 last night. I didn't recognize the # so I didn't answer; no message left. Checked here and after reading these reports decided I was glad I let it go.
It's getting to the point where I don't answer calls from area codes I don't recognize. I can report things to Do Not Call but it just takes time and doesn't do any good - they just keep calling. If they really are calling just to see if the # is valid there's nothing I can do; the VM will answer and they'll have their proof. But at least I won't have wasted time talking to no one.
