The person identified himself as Harry and had an accent.
This arabic man KEEPS CALLING my house playing on my line when I advised him to stop calling me he began cursing me out and saying craxy ISH so I told him to F**** OFF...
This blog is a huge help! I got a call from the same number, from Alton, IL. according to caller I.D. - after a brief pause 'Daisy' (same Indian accent) said she was calling from the "Windows Security Center" and that they had identified a Trojan or virus on my computer because I had clicked the 'send error report' button. I asked if she worked for Microsoft and she said yes. I told her that I had been warned about such calls and that Microsoft does not contact customers in this way - she insisted that she could help me with my computer getting rid of viruses and that's it. I repeated that I did not believe it was a legitimate call and hung up. I checked my computer, it is working fine, no problems noted in anti-virus software. Conclusion - bogus call. My grandmother got a call from this indian lady and was told they where from medi cal and social security and they needed to bring the bamk account info that was in file to send her social security checks to. .. she freaking gave it to them! I sat there and and told her don't give it out and she did anyways they called again saying they needed to verify more info so they could send her a new card and u acted like her. .. when the lady said she just needed to verify a couple things I asked her to give me her number and she just keeps saying I will call you back what it's a good time. . I didn't budge and insisted she give me a number so she gave me 1877 992 475..... I said that isn't enough Numbers your Missi g a number and she just kept repeting the same thing..... I finaly saI'd "look you must be an idiot if you don't even know a p hone number has 7 numbers... just give me the last 4 digits... she then said the whole 9 numbers she gave me before and I saod no justbthe last 4... them she hung up on me. ... I'm having major anxiety cuz my grandmother gave these people her freaking bank account number....

Check if you have downloaded any programs recently - first thing!
Remove them and uninstall and use Shredder from McAfee (it comes with McAfee Antivirus program BTW).
Trojan was inserted into a YouTube Downloader Program.
After I removed the program, I ran a full scan and found the culprit buried into Hidden Folders and Files - cannot specify here everyone has different settings.
Keep reporting the offending numbers (this is a second one from the original one which was dialled the same day) to your phone company and block if you have said service - putting yourself on exclusion lists will not work! As they are not in possession of your phone number (unless they breached your pc with the virus) they are calling computer phone line.
Also, repeat the above process on all laptops, pcs, desktop et al within the family since it infects all computers on filesharing and wireless (i.e. where within Network you see more than just your PC but everyone else's in your WorkGroup.
Then as a last resort (our situation) with them phoning, after years of callers NOT leaving any messages - we just turn off the phone completely - no ringer at all is heard in the house, and put it to ring on longest before the line cuts off (this on digital phones btw!). Second options put it on answering after the longest ring amounts it wastes their money - not yours!

Got a call from a man, with very difficult to understand Pakistani accent. He said he was from Windows Tech Department and my computer is giving off signals there is a problem. I asked where he was calling from and he said California. I said, so what is your phone number? He asks why I needed to know. I said I wanted his number in case we got cut off then I could call him back. He gave me an 800 # without enough digits, and I told him to restate it because he was short a digit. He hung up on me.
Love playing with them when they try to shaft you. My husband got a similar call last week from 516-746-9347. It was a payphone. after searching out that phone number, it is the same type of scam. Says they are from Windows, or Microsoft
