Great answer! Yep, its a very OLD tactic that scumbag collection companies use. the debt is NO longer valid. they buy them for pennies, use volume/auto dialers to reach as many people as possible. NEVER answer the phone, and if you do, hang up once they identify themselves. IF debt is old you owe nothing!
Well what can I tell you? These guys (Portfolio Recovery) are genuine bottom feeders of debt collection industry. They buy old statute expired debt and through harassment tactics try to collect 10 to 30 cents on the dollar. Of course the minute anything is collected, the statute date resets to day 1 and their other outfits and ambulance chasers come after you. If you have noticed their letter of settlement is only for the debt with them, not original debtor or the next place they sell it to. The only way to fight these guys is to get with your state authorities. These guys know all the Federal loopholes.
These idiots will not stop calling all hours all days of the week....I never answer and they never leave a message but it is very frustrating they call back to back sometimes, I believe they are calling from several different numbers I keep blocking numbers and then after so many attempts of them going straight to voice mail they call from another number....
Don't do business with these frauds even
if you owe money to them. They are
extortionists with multiple numbers in
different states. Don't do business with
criminals and work it out in the court
system if it comes to that. F them.
