I was just called today from these same people. I got a call first on my cell from a "Private Number", when answered, this lady told me that a collection agency had been trying to reach me and this was the final attempt. She gave me the number to PNC Capital Group with an account number. When I called the lady was talking very fast and said I had taken out a loan back in 2008 first, then she said it was taken out back in 1997 and payments had been made until January of 2010. Every time I tried to ask her a question she would cut me off and after trying again with a raised voice she said she would not be yelled at and hung up on me. I called back numerous times and kept getting very little bits of information from her. She said she was going to have papers served on me at my job as well. I NEVER took out a loan in 1997 or in 2008, as a matter of fact I couldn't have taken out a loan for a piece of gum in either year because of student loans. (Which are current by the way, and nothing is showing in the negative on my credit report). I think this is all a scam because she said to me that unless I was willing to set payment arrangements up, there was nothing else she would discuss with me.
I got a call from this company also they told me I owed money on a citibank account from yrs ago and that they were going to attach my wages for 25 % almost 700 dollars a month and that I owed 13,000, but they could take 2,000. They couldn't tell me how they got the debt or anything, but they did send me a letter basically just saying what I agreed to pay them. Which was 1000 dollars on the 15th and another 1000 on the 30th. The address on the paper they faxed was 174 w lincoln ave ste 226 anaheim ca 92805 and the number listed on the fax was 714-782-0963. It doesn't seem like they would mail anything to anyone else so could this be a real debt collector. I dont know what to do cause they said if I dont pay my wages will be attached and they also called my work.
This is a shame... Everything that I am reading is proff, that this is a scam company. The same things happened to me. Exactly, how all have listed complaints. How can we as consumers. Human beings, get this to stop?
Whomever they are, they are very rude. Condescending, obnoxious, unprofessional, degrading, jerk offs... Blah, Blah blah. I could go on for days.
I am writing a letter to the congrassman of Cal. The California Bar and BBB! Nothing may get resolved but, at least they will know my name and my complaint!!
