I was just called today from these same people. I got a call first on my cell from a "Private Number", when answered, this lady told me that a collection agency had been trying to reach me and this was the final attempt. She gave me the number to PNC Capital Group with an account number. When I called the lady was talking very fast and said I had taken out a loan back in 2008 first, then she said it was taken out back in 1997 and payments had been made until January of 2010. Every time I tried to ask her a question she would cut me off and after trying again with a raised voice she said she would not be yelled at and hung up on me. I called back numerous times and kept getting very little bits of information from her. She said she was going to have papers served on me at my job as well. I NEVER took out a loan in 1997 or in 2008, as a matter of fact I couldn't have taken out a loan for a piece of gum in either year because of student loans. (Which are current by the way, and nothing is showing in the negative on my credit report). I think this is all a scam because she said to me that unless I was willing to set payment arrangements up, there was nothing else she would discuss with me.
Collection company that is looking for a person with a similar name. They have called me numerous times over the last 6-8 months and each time I tell them I am not who they are looking for and to take me off their call list. When they called today and I called back, I told them the same thing and they were very disrespectful -- hung up on me. They said I must have some connection with the person they're looking for since they have my phone number.
Attempt to get a legal name & address from them. Then you can send them a cease & desist letter via certified US mail if they are a legitimate and real collection agency. Also you can report them here:
This morning I got scammed called. This guy saying he is scott ledger called to tell me was going to provide me a summons because of an issue with my old property (which was rented) and to call him or mary lowd @ 626 537 2297. He said he hopes I'm home when he serves the summons because otherwise he is coming to my place of employment and he hopes my boss is not there. He then called my mother-in-law and said the same thing. its a totally scam if anyone else gets called to do not pick up. I have contacted the PA attorney generals office to report it. Since I have no idea why they called my mother-in-law, all I can think is maybe they got info from facebook, even though I do use all the privacy features.
Then they called back left another message that said call them back because they have my delivery I ordered.
Please file a complaint against these people. Their scum.
Left a message stating they are trying to serve me legal papers and if I don't call back they will send an officer of the court to my home or work. What tipped me off is he gave a case number that is not the style used in my state (they don't start with state abbreviations). On top of that the number he left to call back the "attorney's office" at the county courthouse was not in my area code. I haven't called them back because I'm pretty sure it's a scam.
This company called my job and asked for a co worker, they were very persistent and rude to me. Then they called back like 20 minutes later and asked for my boss because they want to ask her when my co worker was scheduled. I contacted my coworker, who tried to call them back and then, I contacted my boss. Few days later, I go into work and my coworker was telling me how he tried to call back and they started acting all crazy, which is when he knew it was a scam. They refused to send anything in writing. The lady even asked to talk to me again, which wouldn't be necessary. People are mad. Don't give them any information. They aren't even good at scamming. Idiots.
