Just got a call from these people. I never answer, because I don't answer calls when I don't know who is calling. They call several times a day. Very annoying.
FYI - If collection agencies are bothering you, DO NOT let them contact you. The clock on the debt will begin all over again. You may have had a collection that was due to drop off in a few months and if you are contacted, the 7 year clock begins all over again.
I to just got a call from this number. They are trying to collect on a debt that is now over 8 years running. The first collection place bought it from capital one then an other and an other and so on. I think that this is number 6 who has had the pleasure to buy it to try and make some money on a none collectable debt. The statue of limitations has run out on this debt but they think that they can bully poor people like you and me into paying some thing off that is no longer there except in their greedy little minds. We call them bottom drewlers. They live off from others whos lives have gone to [***] and stand no chance of ever being able to draw an other normal breath of air. But take my advice check the statue of limitations in your state then get their addresss and write them tell them never to contact you again by phone. Also call your consumer protection service in your state and tell them the problem you are having with them trying to collect on a debt that is no longer collectable. Make sure that you send it so they have to sign for it so you have a record that they were infact contacted by you. Then is they persist you then have a case where you can go after them. And if some states it is your turn to collect some money on these half wits who love so in making yours and my life such a joy to live after loosing most of your personal mind to a situation that you had no control over. And never be afraid when talking to them. Ask questions get their name, address so you will have the tools you need to go back after these fools. Also in some areas like with Comcast you have a blocking feature on your phone by dialing *60 then it will tell you what you need to do to add their number to be blocked. Good luck and again do not let them make you afraid to answer your own phone.
