Called today at 6:50 pm on my damn emergencies-only, pay-as-you-go cell phone. Like a fool, I answered, and it cost me 25¢! But then, too late, I thought better, and hung up before they started talking.
They immediately called back. I'm on the damn no-call list and they're not supposed to be calling cell phones.
I'd like to remedy this situation with a baseball bat aimed at the head of the call center. Or the fingers he or she uses to dial. Violence in cases like this is extremely underrated and a wonderful way to let off steam at telemarketers, and everyone benefits — me, the baseball bat company, the doctor putting in the stitches, the eventual physical therapist — everyone!
Under the rules adopted by the FTC, it's not a real survey that is exempt from the restrictions of the Federal Do Not Call List, because the entire purpose of the call is to telemarket.
