So Glad to see that I am not the only one. Received a call on on my cell phone from this number. (661-695-5199). I answered and A "Recording" said that my DIRECT EXPRESS account has been locked...to press 1 to unlock it. I did not say or do anything and waited... the call disconnected.
I looked up "Direct Express" thinking maybe it is linked to one of my dept store credit cards. There is a Direct Express banking company. I called back from a land line # and the number has been disconnected. Sad that some people are low enough to prey on others. Try to scam them v/s working a real job.
This number called my cell at 8:15am. I didn't answer and looked up number online and saw all the messages about it being a scam. Did not leave a message
Got the same call to my cell that "my" debit mc was locked and to press 1. I hung up as the call came in at 6:45 am on Sunday ( no banking company would be bothering you at that hour or on a Sunday) and I don't have a debit mc. Called the number back only to hear the recording it was disconnected? I plan to contact the attorney general in California ( the state the call originated from) to file a complaint. Obviously, this scam has been ongoing and they ( the legal system in CA) should have a database of who uses that number. This is consumer fraud and they will want to know about it.
