I, too, received an automated call on 11-16-14 stating my Direct Express was locked. I did press 1, but when it asked for my CC # to unlock it, I became suspicious. Hung up, called the # back...and it is a disconnected number. Its a disgrace and a shame that some people, especially the elderly, will fall for this scam. I alerted our local news station via Facebook, but yet to see them warning the public.
Got a call from 661-695-5199 with a recorded voice saying my credit card had been locked and to reactivate it to enter my card #. I tried pressing "0" to maybe get a live person and see if I could get any information on who is behind this. Just like all of the other posts people have made, when I called the # is says it's disconnected. What a bunch of losers!
Got a call from this 661 number on my cell phone, 9:15am. It was obvious from the very beginning that this was a scam. The voice is obviously a computer....sounds similar to the computer from that Matthew Broderick movie "War Games". So...I played the game. Entered 16 random digits, it repeated it back, pressed 1 to confirm that it was the number, then it said that it was an invalid number and asked me to try again. I love messing with these people.
Received a call on my cell about 10:30am on Friday Nov 21. Said my debit card had been compromised & push 1 to enter card information. Duh!!! hung up and call my credit union. they had not made the call. any calls from them would be from a 1-800 # and not automated. Reported it also to FTC.
Just got a call from this number, automated message saying my debit card had been frozen. Asked for my 16-digit catrd number. I hung up and tried calling them back. Disconnected number. Total scam. Card is not frozen.
