Just received a call from a heavily accented male asking for me by name and saying he wanted to speak about the "lawsuit filed against you by IRS." When I said "Excuse me?" the call was disconnected. There was also another identifying number on the caller id:V3231583600039.
Caller with India accent stating I need to get a lawyer for tax fraud. Had my full name and address. Told them no thank you and please contact me through the since the have my address.
Two voice messages today from this number - same recorded message by a heavily accented man stating he's from the "Federal Claim Courthouse, and we have already received arrest warrant on your name". Scam.
Don't call them. If you call they'll know you listened and that makes you a target for more scams, more calls.
They are probably using a spoofed number or a VOIP number. The call is really coming from outside the US.
Telephone scamming is not high priority with law enforcement. The few scammers in the US know that. They move often and law enforcement doesn't have time to track them down.
