Received call from a man with a heavy accent, saying they have my social security number and that I'm being convicted for tax fraud and unless I call them back ASAP they will proceed with a lawsuit against me. Whole thing makes no sense. Looks like they are spoofing a real Internal Revenue Service phone number. This is a SCAM and we need to report these people!
Got a call from this number 703-756-6663- same as others are getting- Some guy(with a middle eastern type accent) says from he's from the IRS and I'm to be arrested-for some kind of tax thingy. (He was hard to understand). I told him he was a liar and I was reporting him to the iRS and HE was gonna be the one arrested. He hung up on me. LOL
I kept calling back the number with mine blocked ( 703-957-1719 that was givin to me by the number that was called earlyer from 703-756-6663) (i fired up a old computer that kept dialing the number over and over for hours) asking for the address and I received a different one ever time. The last time he finally said hello again and said this is Mc Donald's how can I help you, then he said he couldn't speak English He tried to speak Spanish to me but I responded in Spanish then another Dialect, I talked in German , French , He finally said " Sir I'm am sorry this is a scam, I don't like it but I am just doing this till I can find a better job, I really don't like this but they are paying me 20$ a hour and I need the money bad" I almost fell out of my chair. I said thank you for being honest but now the word is out. take care...
I've received this call 3 times in the last week. The first two were a heavy accented male; today's call was from a heavy accented female. Since the calls were recorded on my answering machine and almost identical, it is apparent they are reading from a script, so I decided to try to work through their accent and write down the message, which read: "Listen to this message very carefully. We have received a legal petition notice against your name and your social security number regarding a tax fraud. A law suit will be filed against you in the federal (claim?) courthouse today. Please give us a call back on 703-957-1720 to receive more information regarding this law suit. I repeat, the number is 703-957-1720. Now, please note a non violent arrest warrant will be issued in your name if we do not hear back from you as soon as possible. Thank you and have a good day." The first two recordings mentioned, "Do not disregard this message, this is not a scam." Interesting enough, an online engine search for the number 703-756-6663 is coming up as an IRS location. I will check the local IRS office to follow up.
