John, we are also on the do not call list, I told them that and during that phone call he had the nerve to say "Listen Lady" I said no you listen, Its my phone, my computer and my business stop calling I know you are not with microsoft and this is a scam. He started to argue with me more but I hung up. I too have gotten calls at all hours usually they number is "out of area" or "Private" this is the first time in several months of getting these calls that I have a number. If you figure out how to get rid of them let me know. By the way, not only are we on the do not call list we also pay to have an unlisted phone number. Good Luck
Its a scam and they only want to gain access to your computer for who knows what! Microsoft nor any company can tell whats going on with your computer! The only people who should even touch your computer is you or your tech whom see face to face. Though I will say exceptions to this are when you call for support to your computer manufacturer or Windows support itself!
And there's also some bad links cropping up on google and such for microsoft/computer support. Make sure you actually go to the real Microsoft pages and call the real numbers for your support and manufacturers..
Please do file reports with the FBI, your state attorney general and Department Of Justice,FTC & FCC..
Got the call - claimed to be Microsoft windows tech - even gave a name and ID Nick Johnson # PC8656 - but the call sounded very out of the USA foreign. he was very persistent.
Yep, got that same call today. Since I was suspicious, I asked the name of the company, the name of the employee, ID number and return phone number. I as given Microsoft Technical Department for the name, Nick Johnson as the employee, ID number PC8605 and phone number 704-325-9110. Told him I would call back later - looked it up and BAM, there it is....a scam. Common sense should tell you that unless Microsoft is pinging your computer (and gosh let's hope not) that there is no way for them to detect a virus on your computer. DO NOT GIVE THEM ACCESS!!!!
